Virgil van Dijk says ‘progress’ in the new contract in Liverpool

Virgil Van Dijk says that there was progress about the new contract in talks with Liverpool.

The current agreement of the Dutch International expires at the end of the season, as well as those from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah.

Although Alexander-Arnold is expected to move to Real Madrid to a free transfer, Van Dijk and Salah have made it clear that they want to stay at Anfield.

Speaking last month, Van Dijk said he had no “idea” whether he was going to stay in the club, but he offered a more positive assessment that things were in conversation Yesterday’s 3-2 defeat in Fulham.

He told reporters: “There is progress, yes.

“I don’t know (if I stay), we’ll see. Listen, these are internal discussions and we’ll see.”

Liverpool fans desperate desperate for Reds Skipper to stay

Liverpool fans were loud in order to stay Van Dijk and Salah, and former Celtic and Southampton Center-Pol says that admiration is mutual.

“I love the club, I love fans and they were again for us and we wanted to reward them,” he said.

“But I want them to be there on Sunday (at home at West Ham United) and become a stadium with an incredible place as always for us.”

Fulham screen was ‘unacceptable’ – van Dijk

Liverpool has suffered its first defeat in the Premier League in the Premier League this season in Craven Cottage, and Van Dijk seemed unusually trembling.

They still sit 11 points clean at the top of the Premier League and stay firmly on their way to raising the trophy.

“It was a bad day in the office for all of us,” 33 added, Van Dijk.

“There were individual moments that were supposed to get rid of better. It was not acceptable as a team.

“We scored a great goal in the first half, but we let them back into the game with weakness from ourselves and these things should not happen.

“Obviously the second half we went one-v-one, we tried as quickly as possible to score a second goal, we risked a lot more. We tried to turn it, but unfortunately we couldn’t do it.

“At the first half, you can’t discuss with the result. We took it on his chin and try to beat West Ham next week.”
