Revivation of Stephen Bunting continued with a 8-5 win over Nathan Aspinall in the finals of the International Darts Open to ask for his second title on German soil in four days.
‘Mellet’ was arrested on Thursday in Berlin in eight games to light his Premier League campaign and take away the momentum in Riesa, where he secured a maiden European title.
At the beginning of the finals, the 39-year-old set up a 3-1 lead only for aspinall, which the competitor equalized with two finishing processing, including the stunning 130 sign-off.
Aspinall looked at the course to ask for a second consecutive European tour, after his European victory in Darts Trophy in March, but Bunting found another equipment to extinguish his opponent’s hope.
Earlier in the night, Bunting ran to a quarterfinal victory of 6-2 over Karel Sedlacek to set a semi-final conflict with Luke Humphory, and then produced some sensational darts in an exciting victory of 7-6 over the world no. 1.
Aspinall knocked out the last three tournament winners – Gerwyn Price (twice) and defending champion Martin Schindler – on the way to the finals, but could not repeat his victory in Gottingen.

Bunting said PDC TV: “Can I play here every week? I love to come to Germany and play in front of these fans – and this is especially special to go with a trophy.
“People wrote me out, I knew I was playing well in the Premier League. I felt it was only a matter of time, but the longer it took, the harder it became. The Premier League was a huge catalyst of what I had done in the last few days.
“I know I moved to the world no.
“Fortunately, I got one victory over Nathan and continued to win the night in Berlin, it was absolutely beautiful. I came here directly from the back, the confidence was high and I continued to win. This is special.
Aspinall: I have run out of money
Aspinall said PDC TV:: “I have a lot of money. My hand is absolutely … Stephen owes me a lot of merit, I helped him win my first Premier League title and European title!
“Until two weeks ago, I made one finale in 10 years and just made the finals back, so I’m proud of myself. My hand is absolute … Yes!”
