The last Manchester Derby Kevin de Bruyne did not remember about Playmaker Manchester City.
Have announced his summer departure From Manchester City in the upgrade to the game, De Bruyne was handed a rare start on Sunday, leading his side only for 13th time this season as they went down to a 0-0 draw with Manchester United.
Much of attention was focused on De Bruyne, but unfortunately for a 33-year-old, he was one of many players who failed to get in the eye in what was, in truth, and bitterly disappointing meeting between two fierce rivals.
For De Bruyne, Sunday’s game marked the first Premier League game in seven years in which he failed to create any opportunity despite playing a full 90 minutes.
Not since the meeting with West Ham United in April 2018, De Bruyne played a full 90 and failed to create at least one opportunity to score goals for his teammates – a pile of 88 games with at least one chance created.
May not have been a dream that ended his legacy of Manchester Derby for de Bruyne, but the Belgian international is still allocated for praise from United Captain Bruno Fernandes after the game.
“De Bruyne improved the Premier League,” Fernandes said Sky Sports. “If the city is where it is, and Man UTD has not won many trophies in this period, it is because of Kevin de Bruyne, and he deserves all the merit.
“He did fantastic. Ten years in the Premier League is a lot. They decided to separate. I don’t know which side, but Kevin continues to be a world class, and it was a pleasure to watch him so close. It was a pleasure to play against him.
“It will remain in the history of the Premier League, not just in Man City.”
