Southampton suffered the earliest relegation in the history of the Premier League because they were sentenced to a 3-1 defeat in Tottenham.
The saints endured the poor time in a top flight after receiving a promotion last season through the play-off championship.

“We have to avoid that record. Doing our best. That can’t happen,” manager Ivan Juric told Sky Sports after the game.
“Now we are just thinking about the games. We will see now what everyone thinks, what I think. The fans deserve a lot more and we have to understand all the mistakes we have made and then create something really strong.”
Postecoglou asking for complete performance
