Coach Abel Sanchez says Devin Haney had a stronger fight than Ryan Garcia for the Fary Fury event on May 2, who opposed Jose Ramirez. Ryan fights Rolando ‘Rolly Romera (16-2, 13 ko).
Sanchez says that the former WBC champion and WBO Light Welterweight Ramirez (29-2, 18 ko) will show what Haney (31-0, 15 Kos) is “made”. Abel says this struggle will show whether Devin belongs there with Gervont Davis and Shakur Stevenson.
No one compared Haney to any of these guys because he had already fought before losing Ryan last April. Haney had huge problems with his fights with Jorge Linares, Vasily Lomachenk and Alfredo Santiago. Devin’s problems are expected to get worse now that he is fighting in 147 against guys who can hit.
Ryan exhibited Haney as a hype, and now Ramirez will strengthen that face by ending it on May 2. Given that this is a mini tournament, Haney will be eliminated and will not fight Ryan in October. It is unclear who Kingry’s opponent will be, but I would suggest that WBO champion 147 LB Brian Norman Jr. hire a job.
The world champion of the former two divisions, Haney, was built around him by becoming an undisputed champion in a lightweight category, and he did so by beating George Cambosos the younger, except for him, Devin has no victory over a credible opposition. He cut his career that he had twice defeated the Little ‘Cara’ of Australia and won a controversial decision over Lomachenk.
Haney Vs. Ramirez. I think (Ryan) Garcia stops Rolly around the seventh or eighth round sometime, “said coach Abel Sanchez HUB TV fights When asked who will have a harder time between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney with his quarrels on May 2. On the Fatal Fury card against Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romera and Jose Ramirez at Times Square, New York.
“I think the fight with Haney is a difficult struggle. We’ll see really what Haney was made of because Ramirez will find it difficult to sell him. Robert (Garcia), his coach, will put together a game plan as he did for the (Arnold) Barboz that will make Haney make it difficult. We also have those who belong to all the points we will be.
“It depends on how Haney looks in his next fight,” Abel said when asked who won the rematch between Ryan Garcia and Haney. “If he suddenly shows us that he belongs to up there, it’s a difficult fight for Garcia, because he’ll be smarter, Haney Will,” Sanchez said.
