Jadon Sancho ‘can better’, says Chelsea chief Enzo Maresca

Enzo Maresca admitted that Jadon Sancho “could have been better,” but refused to talk about the long -term future wings in Chelsea.

During the summer, Sancho joined Blues from Manchester United and there is an agreement that the move becomes permanent at the end of the season with a fee in the £ 25m region.

However, in recent weeks, Chelsea has been reported to have been thinking that former Borussia Dortmund Man would return to Old Trafford, although they would cost them £ 5m to interrupt the agreement.

That would be another blow for a 25-year-old, who failed to go out to Stamford Bridge after a light start.

Not just Jadon – Mareca

Maresca, whose lateral face is Tottenham tomorrow night, said he was “happy” with all the players, but that he was insecure when he asked what the summer could bring.

He said, “You probably have more news than me in terms of Jadon. For me, his situation is not changing, he is exactly the same.

“Surely, he can do better in terms of numbers, no doubt, but it’s not just Jadon. We have more players in the same situation.

“I don’t need to give Jadon a message, I’m talking to him every day. I talked to him yesterday. He must still be given to the end. That’s what we want from Jadon.”

Maresca focused on the good end of the season

Chelsea went into this match fourth place, and Maresca is firmly focused on attempting to secure a place in the Champions League.

He added, “All the players who are with us, I love them all. But at this point is the moment to finish well and do not think about the next season.

“What is happening in the summer, we’ll see. I’m pleased with all the players here.”

Chelsea has been struggling with injuries lately, but has several key offensive players to visit Spurs.

“Cole (Palmer) returned, he’s fine. Noni (Madueke) is better. Nico (Jackson) is better. Everyone is good,” he added.

“We said many times, it’s a game for players and when they are gone, fight.

“It happened to us this season, where we had five or six incredible months and then had six or seven injuries in a row and we lost something. Now it’s good to end with all of them.

“From the first day (players) they give everything. The attitude has always been the top, every day, and even in the last week, because they know how important it is from now. Each game becomes important. We have nine games to leave and hope we can finish well.”

Chelsea won’t understand Tottenham lightly

The Spurs are 14th place on the Premier League table, but Maresca knows it will be a tough game against their northern London rivals.

“It’s a huge game,” he said. “We know how important it is for fans and club. It is also important that we try to finish where we are now.

“Tottenham has a lot of good players, but no matter who plays, it will be a derby and it’s a premier league and you can fight any team.

“We want to be direct and fast when they press more. We can’t be direct and fast if they sit back. In the last three home games, they were all games with each player behind the ball. When you have players who like to run behind you, it’s easier.

“If we win, you can build a momentum for the end. These are all important games and all three points. We have to win as many games as possible and we’ll see where we finish.”
