Arne Slot said he was pleased with what he saw from his Liverpool players while the Reds escaped 1-0 winners over Everton to extend the lead at the top of the Premier League to 12 points.
Diogo Jota struck shortly after the half in front of the typically tumultuous audience of Anfield to give the SLOT side a victory and end the nine-meth Toffees without victory.
Beto scored a goal from the first half for the offsid, while David Moyes’ team may have been lucky to end the game with eleven players after James Tarkowski denied the follow -up of Alexis Mac Allisters.
The result expands Liverpool’s undefeated Premier League to 26 games and transferred them to 13 points from the title, with eight games left. And the groove was pleased with the depiction of his side.
“I liked what we did a lot more than in the Game Game, where we scored two goals (2-2 drawing), but we barely created anything,” Slot said.
“We were almost constantly in their last third today, but it is still difficult to achieve the result because of the number of players that bring around their box of 18 meters and the way they can defend themselves.
“We faced a team that didn’t lose nine games in a row. So we knew, except that it was Merseyside Derbi, we faced a very strong team, especially in defense.”
Slot also asked about taking his Tarkow challenge, but the Liverpool chief was not in the mood to embark on a discussion.
“So many people gave their opinion on it, and even people who are not in Liverpool’s consent,” Slot said.
“They were so clear in their comments that I didn’t need to say anything else.
“It was so clear that it was not necessary to comment.”
Liverpool is next in action when traveling to Fulham on Sunday.
