‘We deserved more’ after 13th defeat of the Manchester United season against the forest

Manchester United chief Ruben Amorim believes his side deserved more than a 1-0 defeat from Nottingham Forest, but admitted that their inefficiency in the attack cost them games.

Red devils suffered their 13th defeat in the season’s kindness of former player Anthony Elange, but were unhappy not to take something that was a match after approaching numerous chances.

In an interview with TNT Sports, Amorim was thinking about a frustrating dinner for United, which dominated the possession and created chances but failed to find a breakthrough.

The Portuguese manager said: “We controlled the game, but we already knew that this team could score goals from nothing. When they achieved achievement, we changed the game a little from what they wanted.

“We tried with good opportunities, but in the last third, the last passage, the last assists were not there. Then if we don’t have it, we can’t score goals.”

Amorim: ‘We need to be better in the last third’

It was a famous story for United this season, according to Amorim, and his side struggled to overcome the goals.

“This season is like that,” he said. “We had a lot of shooting on the goal, we pushed our opponent in the last third, but in the last third we had a lack of quality.

“We have to win the games and we deserve more in this game, that’s clear, but it’s our fault and we have to be better in the last third. We should have won this game, not even drawn, but in the end we lost three points.”

More counterbalanced troubles

United’s vulnerability to counter -attacks was again exposed because Forest used its limited capabilities.

Amorim added: “We know the characters of the team, and one goal can put them in one situation they love. We have to score two goals to win the match, which is frustrating because it was the beginning of the game. We helped them win three points.”

Despite the disappointment, amorim insists on seeing progress and remains focused on the upcoming challenges and in the Premier League and the Europa League.

“I see it in the game. I don’t lie to myself; I can all say whatever they want to say, but we have to win the games. Let’s go to the next game. We have a Europa League, and we have the next game in the Premier League, which is a focus.”
