Riyan Paragstand-up captain Rajasthan Royals (RR)found himself at the center of multiple controversy after his first win of his team in IPL 2025 who came against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Sunday. Despite securing the hard win in six runs, Parag’s action on the field and outside of it caused broad criticism.
Incident Selfie: Fans question the attitude of Riyan Paraga
After an exciting RR victory at the Barsara Crickket Stadium in Guwahati, a video showing Parag appeared that took a selfie with balls from the Assam Crown Association and then casually throwing their phone. This gesture was widely understood as rejected and dishonest, which led to distress on social media.

Slow excessive sentence adds to trouble
Adding controversy, Parag was fined in the Inr 12 lakh for maintaining a slow-excessive rate during the CSK match. The sentence was imposed in accordance with Article 2.22 IPL Code of Behavior, which relates to minimal offenses. Although this was RR’s first offense in the season, it further encouraged the supervision of Parag’s captaincy.
This fine parag was punished by the second captain in the IPL 2025 for slowly over -excessively, after the Mumbaj Indians’ Hardik Pandya. However, unlike the previous seasons in which the captains faced bans for repeated offenses, the IPL 2025 instead introduced a monetary penalty system and Demerit points.

Despite the controversy outside the terrain, Parag contributed significantly to the RR victory. His harsh efforts on the field, including the stunning catch to reject Shimum Dubua and the decisive capture of Shimron Hetmyra to end Mrs. Dhoni’s chase, played key roles in defense of a total of 182 RR rides. However, his leadership remains under surveillance after RR has lost its first two matches this season-has included a record overall role accepted against Sunrizes Hyderabad (SRH).
