Glasner greets ‘amazing’ eze, but admits that the star had a ‘strange season’

Oliver Glasner was full of praise for Eberechi Eze after giving a goal and assistance in FA Cup Cup Crystal Palace’s victory over Fulham, but admitted that Playmaker had a “strange” season.

By taking away the Fine Week in which he scored his first senior goal from England, Eze scored a sublime strike before setting Ismail Sarr while Palace ran out of 3-0 winners to advance in the semifinals.

Eze opened scoring in Craven Cottage when he cut on the left and produced the effort described by his manager as a “incredible ending.”

The 26-year-old then turned the service provider, crossing Sarr to double the leadership of visitors. The replacement of Eddie Nketiah added the third in the second half to reserve the place of Palace in the last four.

In this term, Eze scored only twice in the Premier League and produced six assists. But Glasner quickly recognized his star’s contribution.

“I think EBBS (eze) had a pretty strange season because he didn’t have many goals in the Premier League, but he had so many chances,” said Glasner.

“In many situations he was so unhappy. He made it impossible for goals, rejected the balls, hit the post, everything, but always continues.

“He struggled with some injuries, also strange injuries to his foot and something. I think the goal against Latvia, his first goal for England means a lot to him as a person and helped him.

“He always has confidence. We all know that he has an incredible ending and can cross on the right leg and I think he scored a hit against Latvia in a close post. Here, it was an amazing ending on a long post.

“We need this quality, every team needs this quality, especially in the finish. That helped us today, it definitely helped us.”

The next one for Palace is to return to the Premier League action when they travel to Bott Club Southampton on Wednesday.
