Xabi Alonso has yet to decide whether to remain a Bayer Leverkusen coach for next season.
Former Real Madrid midfielder, Liverpool and Bayern from Munich was associated with jobs in all three clubs last summer before committing to stay in Bayaren, but for 12 months, he was not so clear when asked about his future.
With Arne Slot and Vincent Kompany, relatively new in her roles in Liverpool and Bayern, and they also performed well with both clubs on the verge that she awarded the home title, Madrid was the most appropriate destination for Alonso this summer.
But the 43-year-old did nothing and says that his focus is at a good end of the season with Leverkusen as they look like to defend the Bundesliga crown, which they first won last season.
Speculations in Spain suggested that Alonso would announce their decision today before tomorrow’s home game with Bochum, but said: “Nothing was to decide.
“I have already said that our focus, mine and one of all players, (on) what we have. We must not think too far (forward). Go go by the game. Individually (that’s my interest).”
Asked if the deadline for him was to decide, he added, “No, no. My thoughts are the same. I said I was (I’m) focused on this season, that’s the most important thing. We are in an important stage. We don’t want to speculate, we don’t want to think about (anything), except football. It’s clear.”
According to #AlonsoApril is a very intense phase of the league. “Everything can happen!”

While Carlo Ancelotti remains in Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid President Florentino Perez will be relatively relaxed, but this situation could change if Brazil enhances their interest in Italian.
It is believed that the Brazilian Football Federation has scheduled a meeting to discuss the future of Dorival Juniors after Seleca’s hammer 4-1 from Argentina in the World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday, and reports suggest that they want ancelot at the end of the season to give him a lot of time to make his mark before the World Cup.
If that scenario was played, then Madrid could test Alonso’s determination to see his contract in Leverkusen, which runs through June 2026.
Former Madrid midfielder Guta believes Alonso is the best man for jobs in European champions.
Said El Chiringuitou: “Is Xabi Alonso the heir of Ancelotti? He is, he is, no doubt.
“I think what he did in Germany last year shows that he could do it in Real Madrid. We’re talking about a Leverkusen team that has not won anything for years, never won the Bundesliga.
“Let’s give him a chance.”
