Unfortunately, Big George Foreman has passed away, but will forever remain a legendary figure in boxing history. Foreman was great all the time and was inspiration for millions of people.
The age is just a number – it was an ideal that great George accepted when a former heavyweight champion brought an unexpected return in 1987. Foreman was 38 years old, lost a heavyweight championship against Muhammad Ali in 1974, and George did not fight in 10 long years. The return was not taken very seriously at first. It was widely perceived as the money it earns. Foreman’s goal of reclaiming a heavyweight crown looked like unrealistic fantasy.
But Foreman struggled regularly, throwing weight, becoming sharper and doing himself in a better state of fighting. Before you knew that, just over 4 years later, Foreman was perfect 24-0 on the Return track, and 23 of those wins entered the distance. This has earned an opportunity to challenge the undefeated, indisputable World Champion in the heavyweight category Evander Holyfield. The fight happened in April 1991, and Foreman made a wonderful effort, but he fell. This seemed to be the end of the road to Foreman, but he hinted. Several fights later lost his decision against Tommy Morrison, at which time the leader was written off as a serious candidate.
In November 1994, after being without action 17 months after the loss of Morrison, Foreman was given the opportunity to challenge the new World heavyweight champion, Michael Moorer. Few observers gave a 45 -year -old Foreman any chance against an undefeated 26 -year -old heavyweight champion. The fight mainly took place as expected, where Moorer was simply too fast and too athletic for Old George. Moorer firmly won the fight, but in the 10th round, Big George landed in a large one two who made the box history when he knocked out the champion.
The victory that creates history marked Foreman as the oldest man who has ever won a heavyweight championship. The previous record was held by Jersey Joe Walcott, who won a heavyweight crown at the age of 37. The victory also made Foreman a double champion in the heavyweight category.
