Brazil to decide the future of the main coach after the defeat of Argentina

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) will meet on Friday to discuss the future of Brazilian coach Dorival Junior, according to reports.

Dorival hit 4-1 by world champions and bitter rivals of Argentina on Thursday in the World Cup qualifying match in 2026. On Thursday, which prompted the rapid schedule of CBF President Ednald Rodrigues, sources for ESPN Brasil said.

The sources said that, although the meetings between Doroval and CBF were routinely during international windows, a heavy defeat at Buenos Aires accelerated face-to-face meeting with coaching staff.

However, it is understood that Dorival has not yet been informed of any decision regarding his future.

Meanwhile, reports are still circulating, suggesting that CBF is looking at Real Madrid, Carla Ancelotti, as a possible replacement for Dorival. Flamengo chief Filipe Luis and Jorge Jesus, who is currently in charge of Al Hilal, are also considered to be potential candidates.

Selecao endured the tumultuous time in qualifying. Currently, they sit in fourth place in the table with only four games, winning six, they pulled out three and lost five.

The top six reach the World Cup finals, and seventh place enters the intercontinental playoffs for a place in the tournament next year in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

Dorival, a 62-year-old former former defense midfielder, has been the main coach of the Brazil national team since January 2024.

His managerial career began in 2002, and he only ever trained in his native land, taking over more than 20 clubs, including multiple compounds with Santos and Sao Paul characters.
