Speaking ahead of the match, Glenn Maxwell expressed his excitement starting with a new trip to the Indian Premier League to the famous franchise. He said:
“It’s nice to start another IPL edition, a place I am really known. Although I suppose the staff have changed a lot because I was the last time here and really looking forward to starting a new trip with them.
“A great feeling is among the group. The preparation was really good in Chandigarh. He also had a camp in Dharamshali. There is a sense of excitement around the group. I hope we will achieve something really special this year.”
Glenn Maxwell also hoped he would bring his views to his leadership. He said:
“I will hope that I will bring a little leadership and experience in this line and I hope that it will really have a very strong influence not only with the baton and the ball on the field, but with some guidance and some help young guys. I tried not to judge my game with my numbers, but how I influence the group around me.”
