Referring to her decision, Vertonghen shared her thinking about leaving the game.
He said, “In recent weeks, it has become clear to me that it will be my last game. This is by no means an easy decision, but it is correct.
“I have noticed that it is getting harder and harder to physically prepare for training and matches and to show myself as a player I want to be.
“Not only to fans and my colleagues, but also to myself. That’s why I’ll stop after this season.”
