Eze enjoys ‘dreams come true’ after reaching the goal of the first England

Eberechi Eze admits that he was delighted after scoring his first senior goal for England on Monday night in their 3-0 victory over Latvia in Wembley.

The crystal palace crystal made a big impact after coming in as a replacement in the 61st minute. 15 minutes later, Eze cut into a Latvian criminal box, avoided three defenders and saw that his shot was refused to the net, giving England all three points in their qualifying for the World Cup.

Speaking after his great moment, he said, “This is something I dreamed of from young people, so it is especially to happen, grateful to God for the possibility of even being here and expressing a gift. I am forever grateful.

“I always want to influence the game whenever I play, how long I get, and today it turned out to me. I am happy to reach the goal, contribute. I tried to create space, tried to destabilize the veterans and throw out my blow and that succeeded.

“I was told to come and make an impact, and I tried to do it – just to be directly effective and tried to create something.

“Sometimes it’s not easy against teams like this, because there is not much space, but it worked well. We stuck in plan and continued on. I felt that it was a strong effect from us. We knew what we needed to do today, and it was important to win. That was the main thing and we did it well.”

The match in Latvia was only the second under the new manager Thomas Tuchel, after a 2-0 win over Albania on Friday, where eze was an unused replacement.

With a training week under Tuchel, the wing player shared his thoughts about his constant adaptation of the game managerial style compared to Gareth Southgate.

“We take it in the game,” Eze added. “You can see that he implements a different game style that definitely suits us, it puts us in the right positions and provides the players the opportunity to be really creative and effective.

“But of course, there are still early days. We are still learning, trying to understand more what he wants and how he wants us to go in the right direction.”
