Promotor Sampson Lewkowicz says David Benavidez will fight for a full WBC title in a lightweight heavyweight category in September, maybe against Callum Smith, after the belt empty or seized from the current champion Dmitry Bivol.
Lewkowicz stated that he wanted a buffalo to return the WBC title and include it on Monday because he would not defend him against Benavidez. It will not be at stake when the buffalo faces Arthur Beterbiev in their trilog match.
WBC has already ordered a buffalo to start negotiating with WBC mandatory Benavides (30-0, 24 ko), and they have until April 8 to compile an agreement before the handbag offer. However, Lewkowicz does not see that this is happening because of the match of the Bivol-Beterbiev trilogy, which is in the planning phase.
No way This buffalo will first take the risk of fighting the “Mexican monster” of Benavidez first because it would probably lose and would be without a belt for the trilogy against Arthur Beterbiev. The fight would still have an interest in fans, but much less because the buffalo refused the loss from Benavidez and without a title.
Risk factor
If Benavidez was a light sign, the buffalo would have fought against him in a second because it was a fight that would create a lot more interests of fans around the world than a tired trilogy. But Dmitry and his administration know that Benavidez is not wrong for them and quickly resolves his style of impact. This approach worked on 40-year-old Arthur Beterbiev because he is old and slow. It would not be effective against Benavidez, which is young at 28 years old, and cut the ring well.
“It will not fight (in the title defense of your temporary belt). It will have to be for the full WBC title. If the buffalo does not lead the fight, I recommended that he renounce (leave) the title before 8 April,” said Promotor Sampson Lewkowicz to HUB TV fights About his insistence that the WBC champion in the difficult heavyweight category Dmitry Bivol defends against his mandatory David Benavidez or empties the belt.
It is unclear why the Bive’s promotional team pulls it out because Benavidez will not change that he wants his WBC title. If they think they will change their minds, they joke because it won’t happen. The buffalo could now empty the belt so that I can start promoting the trilogy with Beterbiev on the basis of not being a undisputed championship in a difficult heavyweight category.
“It won’t happen,” Sampson said about the fight between Bivol and Benavidez. “If he (buffalo) does not want to fight on Monday, return the belt. The guy who brings money to the place (Saudis), does not want it (buffalo-benavidez),” Lewkowicz said.
It will not be the end of the world for a buffalo to enter the trilogy with a three belt, not four. The fight will still have a value for fans who like to watch two ages 175 pounds in another chess match.
Boxing fans are tired of visiting Bivol and Beterbiev, because none of their two struggles were fun. According to US standards, their struggles were boring. People outside the country can love tactical struggles that look like amateur competitions, but fans do not enjoy this style.
“It could be (Callum) Smith (if Benavidez had been fighting next), but there were many others. He would fight for a full title in September,” Lewkowicz said. “If he (buffalo) wants to go on a handbag offer, we’re well prepared with PBC. America wants his blood to fight (for a lightweight heavyweight title), and David Benavidez is blood. It’s the best fight.
“We have already seen a double same fight (buffalo vs. Artur Beterbiev). Below 50,000 people saw that fight (on DAZN PPV in their rematch on February 22). It’s a good fight for us (hardcore fans) who love boxing, but they don’t care about regular people. I would never get to Saudi because I love that screaming. “
