PCB champions trophies hit record records after losing INR 869 crore on just 1 game

It was expected that the 2025 champion trophy would be a historic opportunity for the Kripket Pakistan because it was the first ICC tournament in the country for years. However, the Pakistani Cricket (PCB) board had to bear huge losses for the tournament host.

Reports claim that PCB spent a huge amount of INR 869 crowns for the host of the introductory match of the tournament between the hosts of Pakistan and Novi Zealand. Pakistan also turned out to be the only completed match of the country tournament.

Loss of PCB trophy trophy is increasing to a record amount

The Pakistan’s leg of the tournament was hosted in three cities – Lahore, Rawalpindi and Karachi. According to the Telegraph, PCB spent a total of 18 billion PKR (about $ 58 million) on an upgrade of each of the three places hosted by the Pakistan tournament.

This is 50 percent more than their total budget. PCB also spent $ 40 million on events preparations. However, they generated revenue of only $ 6 million as part of hosting fees, ticket sales and sponsorships.

As a result, the committee suffered a total loss of about $ 85 million for the host of the prestigious tournament. Their total loss makes up a huge 85% of their budget, which is much more than their expectations.

Pakistan only played a solitary game in a tournament at home, which was against New Zealand in Karachi. Their second group game was against India, which was played in Dubai because of the hybrid model of the tournament.

Men in Green were supposed to play their last match in Rawalpindi against Bangladesh. However, the match was washed over heavy rain. Pakistan was already in the tournament before the last group game against Bangladesh, but they sought a comforting victory.

Players face the consequences

The players were made to face the consequences of losses created during the tournament. Recently, a report has emerged that the T20 National Championship championship fees have been reduced by 90 percent.

According to the Pakistani daily ‘Dawn’, the match fees were reduced from 40,000 INR to 10,000 INR without any announcement of the Committee. However, the Chairman of the Committee intervened in the matter and rejected the decision.

“PCB recently reduced the compensation for the match from 40,000 to ₹ 10,000 without any official announcement … However, the President of the PCB Mohsin Naqvi intervened, rejecting the decision and directing the domestic Cricket Committee Department to re -review the issue,” Dawn said.

“Although PCB has yet to be officially discovered by the revised amount, the sources show that it was set to 30,000 per match – 10,000 less than last year,” added.

Pakistani Campaign for Champion Trophy

Pakistan had a terrible tournament in the champion trophy. It was expected to manage well because it was the first ICC tournament in their country in 29 years.

However, the players were not able to stick to the expectations in the country as they collapsed from the group stage, losing to New Zealand and India in their first two matches.

Their third match against Bangladesh was sparkled because of the rain and eventually ended the last in their group. India became possible champions while in the finals in Dubai they defeated New Zealand.
