Slot Arne rejected the idea that Liverpool’s final loss of Carabao CUP from Newcastle was lowered to fatigue, saying that it had nothing to do with running “at his press conference after the match. Instead, he emphasized the failure of his part to win enough duel.
It was in these physical battles that signs of fatigue became the most obvious. In the last two weeks, Liverpool has registered the three of his top five rates of the success of the duel all season.
The question was most pronounced against Paris Saint-Germain, when Liverpool won only 32.5 percent of the duel games, the lowest rating of success in the Club in the Recoring Champions League. In the second part of that tie at Anfield, and against Newcastle on Wembley on Sunday, the rates of their success was 42.7 percent.
The UD can be further monitored in the Premier League. Prior to the turn of the year, Liverpool won more than 50 percent of the duels in nine games of 18. They did so only in two of the 11th. The slot may not admit it, but his side lost his physical advantage.
“Liverpool’s legs ran out of money,” as Sky Sports Pundit Jamie Carragher put him on Sunday. “The wise set, duels in the middle of the park and for the pace, Liverpool couldn’t handle.”
Fortunately for the place, there was no meaningful effect on their results in the Premier League. The performance levels were fluctuating, but Liverpool remained undefeated from loss 1-0 of Nottingham Forest in September. Their leadership of 12 points over Arsenal at the top of the table should allow them to win the title with them.
This feat itself, of course, would represent a triumphant first season in charge of the groove. There are few imagination of his Liverpool side as the winners of the title in August. But if they want to repeat their success in the next term, Idići and the distance in the Cup competitions, they will have to pay attention to the lessons of their immersion.
He could, with some justification, claim that his conservative approach to rotation helped Liverpool build their command position at the top of the Premier League. He leaned hard against his best players, yes. But they delivered, mostly staying fit and putting Liverpool on the right path for a 90 -point campaign.
However, there were always questions about the sustainability of such a policy, and the recent decline emphasizes the danger.
The Liverpool average of 1.76 changes in the Premier League match is the seventh lowest in the division this season and makes them extraordinary compared to the recent title winners. The last seven pages that won the title and dates from Manchester City in 2017/18. On average, there were 2.79 changes in the line per game.
These sides were able to maintain freshness to the end, in most cases, but Liverpool now finds themselves with too many players who have played too many minutes. Virgil Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister played more than 3000. There are others behind them.
In fact, with Dominic Szoboszlai, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Luis Diaz and Ibrahim Konate also near that threshold, Liverpool has nine players in the top 50 for minutes played this season by the Premier League players in all competitions.
No other side has more than six.
Some, of course, like Salah and outside Dijka, are used to such a big work burden. But even they are not immune to fatigue, as they show their recent form and others are to others.
Graveberh’s minutes have increased by a whopping 46 percent this season. With two months of campaign still, Konate has already played more minutes than in his entire last term. Mac Allister is on the way to exceed his overall number for last season.
All these players, such as outside Dijka and even Salah, have recently looked understandably heavy legs and struggled to maintain their consistency in the second half of the season.
It is no coincidence that those behind them in order, far fresher who have been preparing so much during the campaign, have made the biggest contributions in recent weeks.
The winning goal of Liverpool in Paris came from Darwin Nunez set by Harvey Elliott. Substituts combined for their goal at Wembley, and Elliott played a pass to release Federico Chies.
Elliott, however, played a 583 -minute crowd in all competitions this season, which is a drop of 2,786 last term, while Chiesa played even less, at 387 after arriving from Juventus in August.
It could simply be the case that the slot does not evaluate most of his players. After all, they are not his players, and Chiesa has been the only signature made since he inherited Jurgen Klopp.
He will hope that he will re -configure his detachment this summer. The transmission window is likely to be crucial, especially in the midst of continuous uncertainty over the future of Salah, outside Dijka and Alexander-Arnold. But the groove may also have to review aspects of their own approach. For his merit, they already look inevitable success in the Premier Liverpool League. The next challenge will be to keep it.
