Delhi Capitals (DC)previously known as Delhi Daredevils, had a historical history in Indian Premier League (IPL)with numerous captains who have led the team over the years. From the 2008 inaugural season to this day, the franchise has seen a mixture of Indian and international stars.
1. Virender Sehwag (2008-2012)
Virender Sehwag was the first captain of the Delhi franchise, led a team from the 2008 inaugural season to 2012. During his term, Sehwag is a captain in 52 matches, winning 28 and losing 24, without any relationships. His percentage of a 53.84% victory remains the highest among all captains in Delhi. Under the leadership of Sehwaga, the team reached the semifinals and in 2008 and 2009.
2. Gautam Gambhir (2010)

Although the gambhir is more famously related to Kolkat Knight Riders (KKR), where he led a team up to two IPL titles, his stay with Delhi was noted for his shrug.

4. Mahela Jayawardene (2012-2013)

5. Ross Taylor (2012)

9. Zaheer Khan (2016-2017)
Zaheer Khan, an Indian fast bowlers, took over the captain for 23 matches between 2016 and 2017 won in ten games and lost 13, with a percent of a 43.5%victory. Khan’s leadership is marked by his experience and strategic bowling changes.
10. Karun Nair (2017)
Karun Nair led Delhi in three matches in 2017, winning two and losing one. His short meeting was part of the season in which the team struggled to find consistency.
11. Shreyas Iyer (2018-2021)

12. Rishabh Pant (2021-2024)

David Warner is in the 2023 season. Captain Capital in Delhi after Rishabh Pant failed to lead her due to injury. Warner is a fertile bat and has led teams like Sunrizers Hyderabad (SRH) in the past. He significantly achieved 3000 runs as Captain IPL during his term with Delhi.
14. Axar Patel (2025)
Axar Patel was announced as the captain of the IPL 2025 seasonMarking a new chapter for Delhi Capitals. Patel, known for his comprehensive skills, will strive to lead the team to its first IPL title. He had previously led the team for one match in 2024 when a pant was suspended.
The capital is yet to win the title, despite reaching the finals in 2020 under Iyer’s guidance. With a patel at the helm, the team is looking forward to a successful IPL 2025 seasonsassisted by a balanced detachment and strong support for the fan.
