Scottish Coach Steve Clarke says there is a 75 percent chance that he will leave his role after the 2026 World Cup.
Former West Brom, Reading and Kilmarnock manager, have already taken Scotland to a consecutive European Championship, and his next goal will retain his place in the top level of the League of Nations-S’s two-legged play-off against Greece this month.
His attention will then be paid to the qualification of qualification at the World Cup of the first man since 1998 – with Greek, Belarus and Portugal or Denmark lying on Scotland.
Clarke – who took over from Alex McLeisha in 2019 – after the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico is left without a contract, and the 61 -year -old admits that he may not renew the job.
“I’m going to a percentage – 75 percent,” he said, when asked how likely to leave after the World Cup campaign. “That’s something I didn’t talk to with my bosses.
“But at this point, I’m happy to start a contract. And I want to go to America. It’s the bottom line. I want to help this group of players get to the World Cup in America.”
Despite their success EUR, Scotland missed the 2022 World Cup Cataria Cup. After the playoffs of loss from Ukraine – and Clarke admits that the next 12 months will decide on his future.
He added: “This year I still have 10 big games to determine that my future is moving forward.
“I decided to want to lower the contract. Obviously, if we have a fantastic year and get to the World Cup and get well at the World Cup, maybe someone will convince me to stay.
“Whether I stay here or go elsewhere, I can determine my future next year. I think it’s a little too early to talk about going or staying.”
Asked if he still had ambitions to return to the club management, former defender St Mirren and Chelsea said: “I am always open to other proposals.
“I enjoyed being the head coach of Scotland. I am determined to enjoy being the head coach of Scotland this year. We will see where it takes us.”
