Liverpool 0 – 1 PSG

Liverpool is out of the Champions League after Paris Saint-Germain has made history to throw them into the penalties on Anfield.

PSG aimed to become the first team to ever drop the Liverpool out of the European relationship after the Reds won their first leg away from home and reached the feat after Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones saw the penalties rescued by Gianluigi Donnarumm.

The French champions were entering him with a 1-0 deficit from Paris last week, but Ousmani was leveled early in the game from close range and, incredibly, he ended up 1-1 on the aggregate, and no side could find the net again.

Arne slot could be considered unhappy not to score, Mohamed Salah lacked two presentation opportunities before Dembele’s goal and Dominic Szoboszlai had a goal disabled by offset. Jarell Quansah approached, and his header returned from the interior of the post.

But PSG was worthy of victory over two legs and will now play the winners of Aston Villa and Club Brugge in the last eight.

It is a slot job to pick up their players for the Carabao Cup finals on Sunday, including Nunez and Jones, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahim Konate were injured. The Premier League title is expecting, but the European San Liverpool is over for this season.

Slot: the best game ever included in

Chief Liverpool Arne coach spoken at a press conference:

“It was the best game of football I’ve ever been involved in. I don’t have Liverpool history as a manager. Two teams at an amazing level.

“This was amazing what we showed in the first 25 minutes. Over 90 minutes I don’t think we deserved to lose this football game today. Over 180 minutes I think we may have been deserved to have gone extended. PSG was a little better than us in the extension.

“Of course, that’s a shock. Maybe it’s not a moment now to tell them now, but last season we weren’t involved in the Champions League. If you have to go out, then go out how we got against one of the best teams in Europe and fight from it.”

Adam Bate was joined by Vinny O’Connor to discuss the exit of Liverpool Champions League on PSG on the penalty shootouts on Anfield.

Van Dijk: It was there for Liverpool

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk Amazon Prime video::

“It was a very intense, great football game. It was completely here for Liverpool, with what we showed in Paris. We fought in Paris, but we won. We saw a very good Liverpool side today, but we’re out of competition.”

An unfinished job for Liverpool?

There will be a huge frustration in Liverpool, as entering this game seemed to them. With hard work, seemingly in Paris, they were well set up for a likely relationship with Aston Villa for which they would have a heavy favorite.

As Luis Enrique, the PSG coach, said in advance, “Whoever wins will go to the finals, I have no doubt.” Whether it’s right or not, it won’t be Liverpool now. With the title all but a safe, the Carabao Cup finals suddenly left the biggest game.

Speaking after the defeat of Liverpool by PSG on the penalties at Anfield in the Champions League, Paul Merson suggested that the biggest winners of the Newcastle United were Carabao Cup on the eve of Sunday.

He will surely do so without Trent Alexander-Arnold, even if the groove has played an obvious injury to Ibrahim Konate. But how will Darwin Nunez feel after this unhappy Cameo, Curtis Jones? The challenge will be to divert the minds.

Perspective is also needed. The Premier League Title Award, which has never won in front of the fans, is huge for Liverpool – and more than they could have hoped in August. This is exactly what he promised at the top of the League of the Champions League …

Luis Enrique: Both teams deserved to pass

Chief Coach Paris Saint-Germain Luis Enrique Amazon Prime video::

“It doesn’t matter if we deserved victory. Both teams deserved to go. We were better in Paris and they were better here. My team showed a great personality and character on Anfield. The atmosphere was great and it was difficult.

“When the draw came out like Liverpool against Paris, both managers thought the same thing: one of the best games you can watch in Europe. The Champions League has nothing to do with consistency. You have to be great in moments. We have suffered a lot. They suffered a lot.”

Match player: Ganluigi Donnarumma

Football is a weird game. Alisson won a player in Paris, but six days later, and his opposite number Donnarumma went with the Liverpool award, his two penalties took PSG to the quarterfinals of the competition.

Donnarumma pushed several blows from danger over 120 minutes, but his pure leaf owes a lot of defensive work in front of him – the least Nuno Mendes, who – again – marched Salah better than anyone in the Premier League.

Nunez had a little telegraphy of his sentence, but he was firmly affected and demanded an impressive stop from the Italian goalkeeper. His stopping to keep Jones’ effort in the other direction, except that he sealed Liverpool’s fate. Another goalkeeper game.
