Tottenham chief Ange Postecoglou admits that his side was “nowhere close to the level” at a loss of 1-0 of AZ Alkmaar.
The result leaves their future in the Europa League that hangs in balance, despite several key players returning from the injury.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven were unused replacements in the match, while Dominic Solance entered the last part before picked up another knock.
It was a flat appearance on the whole ground for visitors, especially from Heung-Dom captain and James Maddison.
The postecoglou assessment was that “it was not great,” but his side must be too gross for a return leg next week.
Speaking after the game, he said: “We will analyze her and look at the areas we fought with, but it is fair to say that she is nowhere near the level that was supposed to be.
“We were not great tonight. A lot of all aspects of the game. We didn’t actually face any part of the game. We fought to get any swing with the ball, we were not as aggressive as we should have been without the ball.
“I think it’s not a matter of effort or attitude. I don’t think it goes outside, not trying, but, as I said, we didn’t really get caught and had the right way to think about fighting a remote fixing in Europe.
“It’s a big, big call to wake up” 🚨
Spurs’s Skipper Heung-Mon Son speaks after the defeat of his side in Alkmaar and says that his team is their “big vigilant call” on the eve of the second part of next week.

“It is always difficult and obviously received the goal, which was a disappointing set of events, but even after that we didn’t put ourselves in the game at all.
“You will face some pressure when you play away from home in Europe and the weather storm and you get to clash with it, but never did it to me, so it was a disappointment.
“We have to be much more aggressive than we were. We just missed a little aggression in everything we did. We hesitated a little with the ball, hesitated in our pressure and we can’t be so.”
The son echoed with the words of his manager, despite the creation of zero chances, he had no shot on the target and did not finish dribbling in the match.
He added: “Nowhere is it near where we should perform. It was very disappointing that we performed like this, including me. It’s a big invitation to wake up because next week is the biggest game of the season.
“I really don’t think there were too many caution. It’s always hard to play in the Europa League. We didn’t create anything in the first half, weakness, not exhibiting the way we should.
“Everyone is very disappointed because of individual performance and team, we have to watch ourselves. No excuses, we weren’t good enough. It’s only 1-0, it’s still not over, and next week we have to be much better. “
