Forest victory on penalties to reach quarters of FA Cup


Nottingham Forest won a tense criminal shooting to show the challenge of Ipswich Town and book a quarterfinal path of FA Cup to take over Brighton.

After nine perfect punishments, Matz Sels easily saved Ipswich replacing Jack Taylor.

After the first 45 minutes, George Hirst scored his third goal in the season to put Ipswich in front, embarking on an unmarked in a distant place from the corner.

The Ryan Yates forest skipper soon equalized, encountering Anthony Elanga’s cross back to the middle with a smart header.

Yates hit the back of the net with another header, but it was offsid before Callum Hudson-Odoi hit the lane.

Forest won all four of its criminal shootings in the FA Cup – with only Macclesfield Town and Stevenage having a better record.

Ipswich was last in the quarterfinals back in 1993, and waiting continued, while Forest’s FINA season continues on two fronts.
