Mulins represented the Red Storm as a player from 1981 to 1985. He was a triple BIG East player in the year and a double all-American, took the team to the last four of his last year. He abolished his collegial career as a leading scorer of St. John with 2,440 points.

Mullins had praise for Pitin’s efforts in an interview with Siriusxm, transcending Pat Riley from basketball at college. The current Red Storm coach responded to these comments, hoping that Mullins would be able to return to St. John’s since his resignation in 2019.

“Chris influences everything great about St. John … just takes a little time to heal some wounds, but as far as I’m concerned, my admiration is as big as it can be, he is part of our family and is the greatest player in St. John history.”
