Real Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini says Antonio is out of “revenge against himself” to prove that he is good enough for European football after his bitter disappointment for two and a half years with Manchester United.
The 24-year-old took his talents in Betis during January transfer A window that joined a six -month loan that does not include an option for a permanent move, as he tries to start a career again that has paused terribly from his move from Ajax 2022.
Antony succeeded in three goals in only four appearances for the Spanish side – he has 12 goals from 96 united games in his record – and Pellegrini acknowledged that a chance to prove himself in Europe is being launched by a Brazilian.
“The most important thing was his attitude and self -criticism,” Pellegrini explained. “If they paid so much money for him, it is because the player is a great level, which for unknown reasons he was unable to perform as expected Manchester United.
“He is for revenge against himself to show that he is a much more mature player. I talked to him a lot to make him calm, not wanting to show great things, but to make it simple.
“He is a great player who does important things for the team, and I hope he will continue at that level by the end of the season because it will help us a lot.”
Betis has already admitted that there is “possibility“Antony could be permanently joined at the end of the season, although the left base agent has left the door open to return to Old Trafford If things go well.
