Chelsea chief Sonia Bompastor says the striker Kerr himself is enough and the club will not take disciplinary measures after his court.
Kerr, who was currently injured, was found guilty of causing a racial hard harassment after calling a metropolitan police officer “stupid and white” after an incident in Twickenham on January 30, 2023.
After the incident, the 31-year-old apologized “because I expressed myself badly at what was a traumatic evening.”
Bompastor said, “He made a statement himself, she apologized and I think that’s enough.
“Everyone can make a mistake and that’s what you learn and so move forward.
“What she faced last week was hard enough for her, so the only thing we want to do as a club is to support her.”
Kerr, who scored 95 goals in 122 appearances for Chelsea since 2019, has not played since he suffered a serious knee injury to the training camp in January 2024
Bompastor said it was “difficult to give a precise time frame” for Kerr’s return, but said she was “making good progress” in training.
The trial heard that Kerr and her partner Kristie Mewis took to Twickenham Police Station by a taxi driver who complained that they refused to pay the cleaning costs after Kerr was ill and Mewis broke the rear window of the vehicle.
Kerr said she and her partner were afraid of their life and in the explicit exchange accused one of the police that he was “stupid and white.”
Chelsea striker, commented on by PC Stephen Lovell, did not deny that the words were “stupid and white”, but denied that it was a racial offense.
“Who she does not reflect what I heard in the court and what I read in the newspaper,” Bompastor said.
“Sam, she’s a really shy person and just wants to live life, doesn’t like to be in the light, she shines. She’s a really normal person and loves being quiet.”
Bompastor, who said she was in contact with Kerr during the trial, added: “We really know her, we, along with her family, are the ones who know her the most.
“It was hard to see it in this situation. We are family and we really supported it and I’m really glad that the verdict was positive and can move forward now.”
