The double main champion Collin Morikawa believes that the PGA tour should follow the leadership of the LPGA Tour in shooting at a slow game.
According to the new policies that will take effect in March, LPGA players, which last one to five seconds longer than the allowed time to play their shooting will receive a fine.
Players who last six to 15 seconds longer to play their shot will get a penalty penalty, and those who last for more than 16 seconds will be a two -stomach sentence.
While Danish Jacob Okov Olesen was sentenced to one goal during the first round of the Australian PGA Championship at the BMW 2024 on the DP World Tour, the last penalty for the PGA Tour was presented in 2017.
“With the fans’ aspect, I realize that they complain about the slow game, but if you show them more shots, I don’t think they would complain about the slow game, right?” Morikawa said at a press conference in front of Genesis
Call.
“But this is a problem on the tour. In no way is something you should look at. It should be solved.
“Obviously you see what LPGA is doing. You have to start baking people. Look, if I hit my wrist and get a fine, I absolutely not want to punish me anymore.
“It’s like a NBA, like technical people. Some guys are fine with a fine every week for ts. If the guys are fine to get technical technical and penalties here on tour because they are slow, so be it.
“Something has to happen and no one wants to be that guinea pig, the first guy who did it and get it, but that started somewhere.”
Morikawa also said that he would not have a problem if the list of bad times and punishment was published, adding: “It will not be so bad if you let go of the list.
“Whether it’s public or not, I think you’re focusing on the wrong thing. It’s just more you have to do something about it, and I don’t think it will be punished enough or enough people punish.”

Genesis Invitational is set up in Torrey Pines after devastating fires in Los Angeles, which prompted the tournament to move from Riviera County Club.
Torrey Pines also hosted the Insurance of Farmers Open three weeks earlier. This is the first time since 2020 that two different events of PGA Tour had played in the same season.
