Ange Postecoglou admitted that Aston Villa had thrown out a lot of changes after Tottenham had thrown out of the Fa Cup.
A 2-1 defeat marks the second exit in three days for the London club, after losing to Liverpool at Carabao Cup on Thursday.
And while Postecoglou was disappointed with the performance, he says it was a story about their season and just have to pick up and leave again.
He said, “Obviously disappointed we are not progress. It was not a great start, that’s the last thing you want, and we really fought to get control. Then we had a huge opportunity at 1-0 that we didn’t use to equalize.
“We were better attracted to the game, but unfortunately, we went through. When you go down, he gives opposition momentum and confidence. You want to fight the control early, and we didn’t do so.
“We were still in the game (halftime). We just had to hang out. The second half was much more like us. The second goal was a little harder, but I always felt we were threatening – unfortunately it just wasn’t enough.

“We still scored a goal, we had an opportunity to create a more chance. We were always in the game, but we received an early goal, and others make it difficult.”
“Nothing really changes. Now we have a few weeks where we have no game in the middle of the week.
“This group has done an incredible job for two and a half months. I can’t praise them enough, playing twice a week from November. She will get the opportunity to reset now and finish the season strongly.
“Europe is still very important to us, we are still in a great place and hopefully we will return some players in the next two weeks.
“We’ll get the players back to help, today we had 11 first team players. Remove that from any team for one game and they would fight – we’ve been doing it for two and a half months.
“The players go outside and give everything they can. It would be much better if they had help.”
It remains to be seen whether President Daniel Levy will pull the trigger and release Postecoglou after a creepy week, but with the players on the return from the injury, his judgment could be reserved for the Europa League.
