Maresca on Jackson and Gui -Oj’s injuries, Felix Exit and Nkunk Future

Enzo Maresca says he is satisfied with the transition window of Chelsea in January, despite the loss of attacker Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu due to injury.

Both attackers went on Monday during the Blues victory 2-1 over West Ham, and although Jackson is not considered serious, Deputy Guio looks set for a long release with Maresc, this is a “bad” injury.

Jackson will also miss Saturday’s FA Cup game against Brighton on Saturday due to knee problems.

“I said after the game West Ham that the things we planned were in terms of players who had the desire to leave and the players we needed,” Mareca said.

“In the end, I think we did all the necessary things. Before the last game we had two strikers, Nico and Marc.

“Sometimes we also adapt to Christo (Nkinka), but in case they both be outside, we will find a different solution.”

Felix AC Milan Move ‘Good’ for a player

Chelsea sold six players during the winter window, and Joao Felix, Ben Chilwell, Axel Disasi, Renato Veiga, Cesare Casadei and Carney Chukwuek were all allowed to leave.

Midfielder Mathis amougou, 19, was the only new signing of the club from St Etienne.

On Felix’s exit, Mareca added: “We have decided, all together, that this is a good option for him.

“To be honest, he never complained. He was very good with us, a professional, just a question of my decision.

“The reason why it is because I think we need a defense balance and when you have so many attack players, you can sometimes give way to transitions and goals. I don’t like it.”

Nkinka Future Future after United Links

Maresca also said that Christopher Nkunk, who was associated with moved to Manchester United in January, would get more minutes.

“Yes, for sure, for sure,” he added. “I’ve been talking about Christ last week.

“Against West Ham, he has been playing for more or less half an hour. From now on, he hopes, he can get a few more minutes and help us.”
