“Did not win”, or “definitely won it?”
Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott Diversity, equity and inclusion (Dei) Policies, despite increasing impulse against controversial programs and initiatives.
Some online commentators labeled Scott as “Mayor Dei” following the collapse of Baltimore Bridge last year, when a container ship hit the Bridge Key Francis ScottAnd it translates into six people who lose their lives.
Scott, in an interview with The Associated Press, said he saw attacks on him as part of a wider reaction against the North -Black Americans and other historically disassociated groups from leadership. He said he rejects the premise and insists that he was properly elected to direct the city of Charm. He was re -elected in November after defeating the republican challenger Shannon Wright.
Scott now doubles Dei and said he is launching a “definitely won” campaign for the month of black history, which will take place in February. The term is a play on the words “did not win”, which the opponents of DEI use to highlight what they say is their lack of bakery meritocracy in Dei.
He said he wants to set the record in DEI policies, which he considers to promote North -American values.
“Because we need to be older and blacker and stronger than ever,” Scott told The Associated Press in an interview on why he launches the campaign.
“We cannot allow this darkness to try to come and overcome our light, because the darkness cannot overcome light, only light can overcome dark All the ways you can. “
Scott said that his “definitely won” campaign will be an expansion of the month of black history, emphasizing the impact of blacks on the country.
“We will be pointing out that these people were not saying, well, they were dei, but in the sense that they definitely won it,” Scott told AP.
“They won all the things they did because they were not given them. We can show people what really means when you have to work ten times so hard so much Falle, when you have to make sure you leave the door open for others people coming behind.
The Trump administration is on the mission of incorporating all programs and initiatives associated with DEI within the federal government, arguing that it has reduced the standards and has promoted an awakened agenda.
In his first week back to the post, Trump signed an executive order that ended the offices and initiatives of Dei throughout the federal workforce. Last week, Trump signed two executive orders banning “radical gender ideology” and Dei’s initiatives from all branches of the North -American military.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth He also contacted the controversial programs, launched a Memorandum last week stating that Dei is incompatible with the values of the Department of Defense (DOD) and created a working group to address the abolition of the program.
Significant brands such as Walmart, McDonald’s, Amazon, Ford and Lowe’s have begun launching DEI initiatives in response to a cultural change that included the client’s reaction, the pressure of groups and activists based on conservatives and possible legal branches.
Dei focused again in a strong approach last week when President Donald Trump He said that the DC’s fall disaster, between a Black Hawk helicopter and an American Jet Airlines that collide near Ronald Reagan’s National Airport Washington, was caused by Dei, though it goes Recognize that the cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
Trump emphasized the efforts of the Biden administration to reduce aviation standards and said he believed that Dei played a factor because he has “common sense”.
Scott said he faced the reaction to the collapse of the Baltimore Bridge without any justification.

He said that the bridge was built before birth, built by very few minorities and that the boat was not piloted by a black person.
“What these people who, unfortunately, think that this is that, from a certain context, historical families rich with straight white Christian men, you should never be in a position of power and that your thoughts And opinions do not matter, “said Scott.
“And this is the saddest part of everything.”
