Los Angeles The city’s leaders presented legislation on Tuesday to protect the immigrant communities in the midst of inconvenience due to the repression of President Donald Trump against illegal immigrants.
Minister Hugo Soto-Martinez presented five proposals to strengthen labor protections and immigration, which said they would address renewed threats of mass deportations, incursions to the job and directed execution actions, Fox Los Angeles reported.
“Today we are here because, unfortunately, we have a president who wants a goat and attack our immigrant neighbors,” Martinez said during a press conference outside the City Council with the members of the Eunisses Hernandez Council, Imelda Padilla and Ysabel Jurado and various immigrants, labor, legal and community groups. “And we will not take it lightly.
“The legislation will ensure that we are ready and that we are ready to fight a comprehensive campaign to” know your rights “throughout the city, so that immigrants and entrepreneurs understand their rights and are not victims of the ICE (United States immigration and customs application) intimidation. “
“Deporting flights have begun” while Trump sends a strong and clear message, “says the White House
The legislation will be heard by the Civil Rights and Immigration Committee of the Council before voting.
If approved, it would reaffirm the city’s commitment to protect its migrant community from possible deportation. In November, Council and Mayor Karen Bass formally settled in Los Angeles as called City of the sanctuary.
