Guatemalan President Bernardo Aevalo confirmed that his country is ready to accept migrants from other United States deported nationalities under the administration of President Donald Trump.
Arevalo made the announcement during a visit by Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday. The new agreement declares to Guatemala a “safe third country” for deportation, and the United States pays migrants to end their countries of origin.
“We have agreed to increase the number of flights of deportees of both our nationality and deportees of other nationalities by 40%,” said Arevalo, speaking during a press conference with Rubio.
