Currently, up to ten North -Americans are detained in Venezuela, although the State Department has not declared them wrongly detained. Three are North Citizens -Americans who allegedly participated in a plot to destabilize the country, according to Venezuelan Interior Minister, Diosdado Cabello.
The State Department has denied any United States participation with a plot to demolish Maduro.

It is not clear how north -Americans are currently held in Venezuela after the significant exchange of prisoners in 2023 when Washington and Caracas negotiated the release of dozens of prisonersIncluding 10 North -Americans, in exchange for Colombian businessman Alex Saab, a narrow ally of Maduro.
Saab was arrested during Trump’s first administration for accusations related to a dollar outline score.
