The new Europa League format-after the Champions League-will be a knockout play-off in February to see which teams are progressing until the last 16.
The top eight league teams will automatically qualify for the next phase.
They will be joined by the winners of the play-offs, which will consist of eight two-legged connections involving teams that ended between ninth and 24th place in the league rankings.
Three British teams participate in this season’s Europa League: Manchester United, Tottenham and Rangers, and the finals will be held at San Mames Stadium in Bilbau on May 21, 2025.

Drawing for the Europa League playoffs is scheduled for January 31, 2025 at 12:30 GMT.
The teams who placed between the ninth and the 16th place on the ladder will be sown, while those who finish between 17 and 24 will not seed.
Each team seeds will face a vague opponent in the play-off, given the advantage of playing another leg at home.
In addition, the teams will be grouped accordingly, which means that the ninth and ten -ranked teams will be drawn or against 23 or 24. ., and so on.
Eight winning teams from the playoffs will progress at the last 16, joining the top eight from the League phase.
The competition will then continue in direct knockout format to the finals.
