‘We need time to work with players’

Manchester United chief Ruben Amorim was delighted to book his part in the last 16 Europa League.

The Red Devils saw the Romanian side of FCSB 2-0, finishing in third place and avoiding play-off in front of the knockout.

This means that Amorim’s men will have a key rest in front of the next stage, which the man himself did not allow the media to forget at his press conference after the match.

“It is really important for us to have time to train and connection between all – even staff.

“In training, we go to the field and get to know each other in a real environment.

“It’s really important and then you can have a week to get ready again.

“At the beginning of the week you can do your ideas and then have time to focus on your opponent.

“We want to improve a lot of the way we play. We want to play closer than today, but we have to play like this.

“We need to adjust to the team improvement.

“We have to recover the players. We’ll sleep here and recover in the morning.”

Diogo Dalot and Kobbie Mainoo scored goals for visitors, and they both arrived in the second half.

It was not a vintage united, but enough to do the job.

Mainoo shone in particular in the role no.

Amorim added: “I can better understand my players. I put the Kobbie Mainoo in that position, we need time to understand the players while he fought a lot of dams as a midfielder.
