President Donald Trump He suggested the horrible collision between a Black Hawk helicopter from the Army and an American Airlines aircraft near Reagan National Airport outside Washington, DC, could have been avoided.
“The plane was on a perfect and routine approach line at the airport. The helicopter went directly to the plane for a long period of time,” Trump published on social truth in the first hour on Thursday at Thursday morning.
“It’s a clear night, the plane lights climbed, why the helicopter did not go up or down or turn. Why the control tower did not tell the helicopter what to do instead of asking if They saw the plane this is a bad situation that seems to be avoided.
According to the Aviation Federal AdministrationA regional jet of PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ700 collided with a H-60 Sikorsky helicopter while approaching the 33-runway at Reagan National Airport (DCA) at 9 pm. The jet worked as a flight 5342 for American Airlines, and turned away from Wichita, Kansas.
There were 60 passengers and four crew members aboard the American Airlines flight and three army soldiers in Black Hawk. Those on board the aircraft included “several members” of North -American Figures Skating, including athletes, coaches and family members who had just attended the United States Figure Skating Championships held in Wichita from 20 to 26 January.
The exact number of injuries and fatalities has not yet been confirmed.

“Tonight, as our first respondents continue their efforts, we send our love and prayers to families, loved ones and communities who experience loss during this terrible tragedy,” he wrote to X.
The airport remains closed until 11 am this morning after the collision near last night between an American Airlines passenger plane and an army helicopter.
“What a terrible night has been,” Trump said. “God bless you all!”
