Sen. Mike Lee continues to call for the abolition of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
“Tired of being groped every time you travel? Abolish the TSA,” the senator said in a recent post on X.
“Make airport security sexual assault free again,” Lee said in another tweet, adding: “Abolish the TSA.”

In another post, he suggested it President Donald Trump should eliminate the TSA.
Lee suggests that instead of the TSA, airlines could handle passenger screening.
“You may be required to undergo a screening procedure if the screening technology raises an alarm, as part of unforeseen security measures, to improve screening or as an alternative to other types of screening, such as imaging technology screening advanced,” according to the TSA website. “A check may include inspection of the head, neck, arms, torso, legs and feet. This includes head coverings and sensitive areas such as the breasts, groin and buttocks.”
The agency was created following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
“The Aviation and Transportation Security Act, passed by the 107th Congress and signed into law on November 19, 2001, established the TSA,” according to the TSA website.

Lee also championed the idea of eliminating the TSA last year.
“It’s time to abolish the TSA. Airlines can insure their own planes if a federal agency won’t do it for them. They’ll do it better than the TSA, without undermining the Constitution and with less palpitations, showing more respect for passengers.” , the senator stated in a message last year on March 11.
Days later, Lee indicated that he had been subject to a TSA pat.

“Update: Days after calling to abolish TSA, I was ‘randomly selected’ for unnecessarily slow and thorough TSA screening and screening. Maybe it’s a coincidence. Or not. Impossible to know. That’s part of the problem with having a federal agency in charge of airport security,” he tweeted on March 14, 2024.
In December, the senator shared a video of a man being beaten.
“It’s disturbing to know that the TSA does this countless times every day, constantly conducting invasive, unnecessary, and unsuspecting searches of law-abiding Americans,” Lee wrote when she shared the video. “Please share if you want to abolish the TSA,” he added.
