Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes celebrate for Manchester United (Photo by Gabriel Kuchta/Getty Images)
Manchester United reportedly look very likely to make a big loss on Rasmus Hojlund, who is available for the right price.
AC Milan and Juventus are reportedly interested in the 21-year-old, but he does not appear to be their top target at the moment, according to ESPN.
The report, however, notes that Hojlund cost €75 million to sign from Atalanta, meaning the Red Devils face a big loss in this move and a failed signing.
Hojlund looked extremely promising during his time at Atalanta, but struggled badly to make the step up to play for Man Utd, and an exit now certainly makes sense for the Denmark international.
Perhaps Hojlund’s previous impressive form in Serie A could have earned him opportunities at big clubs like Milan and Juve, but ESPN stress concrete offers don’t look like they’re coming at the moment.
With just two goals in his last 18 Premier League games, there is no doubt Hojlund is struggling at Old Traffordbut he is far from the first and probably won’t be the last to have this problem.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson stepped down and thrown United into disarray, there have been so many expensive signings that haven’t worked out for the club.
Huge amounts have been invested in the likes of Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez, Angel Di Maria, Romelu Lukaku and Antony, while we’ve also seen Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee struggle in recent times.
Hojlund may still have a big future in the game, but he may not have chosen to move to United at the most ideal time, and now it will be interesting to see if he can get his career back on track.
MUFC, meanwhile, should surely just keep changing until they settle on a team that works better for new manager Ruben Amorim.
