How to buy NVIDIA RTX 50 series GPU

Following a two-year wait, NVIDIA’s the highly anticipated GeForce 50 series the GPUs are around here. Engadget has released its own comments of $2,000 RTX 5090, but if you’re reading this article, chances are you already know if you want to splurge on a 50 series card. The question is how to buy one of them? Depending on when you read this article, the good news is that we’re almost at the end of the week from major retailers, including Best Buy and Newegg, stocking up on new cards on January 30th.

What about bad news? If the launch of the 50 series is like the 40 series before it, expect high demand and limited supply to begin with. If you’re ready to buy an RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti or 5070 when it’s released, make sure you’re using Best Buy’s information and other retailers to have the best chance of getting all the cards before they sell out.

GeForce RTX 5090 for $2,000: The RTX 5090 is the most expensive consumer GPU NVIDIA has ever released. It is one of the most powerful and power-hungry, with a 5090 that has 21,760 CUDA cores, 32GB of GDDR7 VRAM and a total graphics power of 575W.

Of course, as with all of NVIDIA’s new GPUs, visuals are only half the story. In accordance with Image of DLSS4the whole series of 50 can make many kinds. With technology, RTX 50 GPUs can generate up to three additional frames per frame they render using traditional methods. DLSS 4 is why the 5090 can produce about 246 frames per second with full motion in games like. Cyberpunk 2077.

If you want to buy from Newegg or B&HAll retailers will have models from third-party OEMs, including ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI and Zotac.

GeForce RTX 5080 for $999: Despite being half the price of the RTX 5090, the 5080 isn’t. It has an impressive 10,752 CUDA cores and 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM, with a memory bandwidth of 960GB/sec. Like the 5090, you get the benefit of DLSS 4 multiframe generation. In addition, the total draw power is very low at 360W, meaning you won’t need a 1,000W PSU to power the 5080.

Again, both Newegg and B&H will be third party stock options. For the Founders Edition, your best bets are NVIDIA and Best Buy.

GeForce RTX 5070Ti for $7. If I had to guess, the 5070 Ti is probably the model that is of most interest to people looking to buy a 50 card. That’s because it has 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM compared to the 5070’s 12GB. The extra 4GB of VRAM may not seem like much, but it will translate to the 5070 Ti becoming a better buy in the long run. Modern AAA games use a lot of VRAM, so 8GB GPUs like the RTX 3070 are starting to show their age.

Unfortunately, the 5070 Ti is the one model that NVIDIA doesn’t offer a Founder’s Edition, so finding one to buy can be difficult. Your best bet may be there B&H. The seller is showing several variants of the 5070 Ti on its website.

GeForce RTX 5070 for $549: At launch, the RTX 5070 will be NVIDIA’s cheapest GPU 50. It’s also the GPU NVIDIA says is as fast as the RTX 4090. Yes, it’s DLSS 4 supported. If you’re interested in the 5070, I highly recommend waiting for the reviews to come out before committing to a purchase. As mentioned, with only 12GB of VRAM, the 5070 may be the bottleneck for your system.
