England cricket team vice-chairman Harry Brook became the talk of the town after his bizarre remark in which he blamed ‘smog’ in Kolkata for his failure with BAT against the India National Cricket Team.
Now, Ravichandran Ashwin has taken some time out to give Harry Brook a cricket lesson on his excuse and offer him tips on dealing with the threat of mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy.

Harry Brook refers to Varun Chakravarthy
Brook failed to live up to the hype in the Kolkata T20i after being named vice-chairman of the England White Ball squad. He managed just 17 runs off 14 balls before being bowled by Varun Chakravarthy.
After the match, the batter spoke to the media, where he labeled Chakravarthy as an “extremely good” and “tough to pick” bowler. However, he also claimed that there was a lot of smog in Kolkata, making things even more difficult for him as he faces the mystery spinner, and he hopes the Air will be “a bit clearer” in the next matches.
As the action moved to the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai, there was no sign of Smog but Brook’s performance did not improve as he scored just 13 runs before Varun Chakravarthy pulled his stumps with a brilliant delivery.
After back-to-back setbacks, Harry Brook faced heavy criticism from fans as well as former India and England cricketers for blaming Smog for his struggles.

Legendary spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also shared his views on Brook’s comment.
In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Ash Ki Baat, Ravichandran Ashwin pointed out that there is no smog in Chennai and gave him a crucial tip to end his struggles against Chakravarthy. He stated:
“There was no smog in Chennai. So Harry Brook said he came out because of the smog at Eden Gardens. I just want to say one thing to Harry Brook -” Harry Brook, please note that Varun Chakravarthy is not hooking his leg to bowl -A lot, his main strength is only googlies. “”

Ravichandran Ashwin further spoke about Harry Brook’s inability to read the googly of Varun Chakravarthy, which led to his stumps being brought down
Ashwin advised Brook to see Spinner’s arm properly to get an idea of the delivery before playing the shots, instead of blaming the light or smog for his dismissal. He elaborated:
“Brook moved towards leg-stab and got out at Eden Gardens. Again, he covered the stumps and went on the front foot, misread the googly and lost the stumps in Chennai.
“If you can see his hand, you can read the googly. It doesn’t matter what the light is, if you can’t see the googly coming, you won’t be able to play it.”
