Former Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan was arrested on suspicion of drug trade.
The 36-year-old, who won 30 caps for his country and also played for Inter and Cagliari, had arrested police this morning as part of an investigation into cocaine movement from South America to Europe.
A statement from Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office read: “Federal court police in Brussels performed 30 searches of houses on Monday morning as part of the organized crime department at the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Brussels.
“The house tests took place mainly in the province of Antwerp and in Brussels.
“The investigation refers to the alleged facts of importing cocaine from South America to Europe, through the port of Antwerp and its redistribution in Belgium.
“We can confirm that the RN (Radja Nainggolan) footballer was deprived of his freedom in the context and the file. Since the tests are currently underway and considering the principle of assumption of innocence, there will be no further comment at this stage.”

From a pension but straight into the troubles
Nainggolan has recently come out of retirement to sign for the second Division of Lokeren-Tetess and scoring his debut while drawing 1-1 with Lierse on Friday.
In a statement, his club said today: “Since the investigation is still ongoing, police services cannot comment on. They respect the principle of assumption of innocence.
“As a club we join them. We can only confirm that the player was absent from training this morning.”
Great career in Serie A Big Guns
Nainggolan gave his name to a teenager in Piacenzi before joining Cagliari in 2010, he made his debut for Inter.
His combat views for Sardinian clothing saw him associated with many Italian clubs and joined Roma, initially on loan, in January 2014, before Switch was lasting later that summer.
The Β£ 32 million movement followed in June 2018, a month after he retired from international football after failing to make Robert Martinez’s team for the World Cup in Russia.
Nainggolan made only 33 appearances for the Nerazzurri before returning to loan at Cagliari for the 2019-20 season.
The magic in Antwerp, Spal and the Indonesian side of the Bhayangkara followed before Nainggolan withdrew only to reappear and sign for Lokeren last week.
