The CIA has changed its evaluation on the origins of Covid-19 pandemic, now promoting the theory of laboratory leaks. Under its new director, John RatcliffeThe agency published an evaluation on the origins of Covid-19.
The review was ordered by the national security advisor of former President Joe Biden, Jake Sullivan, towards the end of Biden’s time in office.
Analysts made the assessment with “little confidence” despite the former director of CIA Bill Burns, who remained agnostic about the origins, told the agency that he had to look at the existing tests again and go down D ‘one band or the other.

John Ratcliffe says we get up “the hardest safety atmosphere” ever in the confirmation hearing
The agency has kept for years not had enough intelligence to conclude if Covid originated In a laboratory or wet market in Wuhan, China. Although the new evaluation favored laboratory leak, there was no indication of new tests.
“The CIA evaluates with little confidence that an origin related to Covid-19 Pandemic research is more likely than a natural origin according to the available report set. The CIA continues to evaluate that both scenarios related to Research as the natural origin of Covid-19 The pandemic of 19 is still plausible, “said a CIA spokesman for Fox News.
“We have little confidence in this judgment and we will continue to evaluate any new credible intelligence report available or open source information that can change the CIA assessment.”
Ratcliffe, which was confirmed on Thursday, has long been a defender of laboratory leakage theory. In an interview with Breitbart, Ratcliffe framed the evaluation of Covid’s origins as part of a broader strategy “to address China’s threat.”
He also said that he wants the CIA to “move away” and take a position.

In a March 2023 Piece of Fox News co -written with Cliff Sims, Ratcliffe accused the administration of Biden of trying to keep in silence a growing consensus around the laboratory leaks theory by suppressing “what can be clearly evaluated from the intelligence the resignation they own. ”
He also called into question the idea that the CIA did not have enough evidence to come to a conclusion on the origins of the virus.
“The CIA is the world’s leading espionage agency. Its reach is unmatched, its ability to acquire unmatched information. However, here we are three and a half years later and there are numerous public reports that the CIA simply does not simply not It has enough information to make an evaluation this is a total nonsense, “says March 2023.

In the same piece, Ratcliffe and Sims rejected the idea that the virus came naturally, claiming that there was “a complete absence of scientific intelligence or evidence” that aimed at this conclusion.
When he stated in front of the house selection subcommittee on the Coronavirus pandemic in April 2023, Ratcliffe said that the theory of laboratory filtration was “the only explanation supported credibly by our intelligence, Science and common sense. “
