The Android Identity Check feature is available on Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices

Google is releasing its own has already been announced Identity Check feature today, I’m adding additional security to “critical account and device settings” when you don’t have a trusted location.

With Identity Check enabled, you need to provide “visible biometric authentication” to access accounts and other phones, such as changing your PIN or disabling anti-theft protection. You need to turn off the feature and add trusted locations where you don’t want biometric authentication to be enabled before using it. Google says the security extends to your Google account or Samsung account, making it difficult for someone to change your password because they have your phone.

Identity Check is available on Google’s Pixel devices running Android 15 now, and is coming to Samsung Galaxy devices that can use One UI 7 “in the coming weeks,” which could coincide with the February 7 launch. Galaxy S25. Other Android phone makers should get the feature later this year.

Along with the release of Identity Check, Google says its Theft Detection Lock feature, which uses AI to detect when your phone has been forcibly removed and lock your door, is now available for devices running Android 10 and up. Both of these settings are worth turning on if you have a phone that supports them.
