Aston Villa enter the race for Arsenal and Chelsea targets

Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha is attracting significant interest from Premier League clubs, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal all showing interest.

But Aston Villa are now thought to be the latest team to monitor the Brazilian’s situation at their Midlands rivals – even though they are well equipped in attack. Other clubs that have noticed the striker are Nottingham Forest, Newcastle and Tottenham

The Daily Mail reported that Villa have entered the race, but their ability to make a move for Cunha may depend on offloading the players who will remain, amid financial viability regulations.

Man United KIDNAPPING of the January transfer is underway!

But they could see a potential gain through one potential departure – Colombian forward Jhon Duran, who has been heavily linked with a move away and has been the subject of interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr.

Fighters for the Premier League West Ham even had a £57m bid for Duran rejected. His future at Villa is far from uncertain.

If the youngster is sold, Villa could secure the signing of Cunha, who has been on fire this season, even for a club that lacks form. He has registered 10 goals and four assists in 21 Premier League appearances this season and Wolves are now keen to open talks over a contract extension, something they are optimistic about.

The club has yet to receive official offers for the player, who has two and a half years left on his current contract. But an offer in excess of £60m could force them out.

Matheus Cunha – state of play for the Wolves killer

GiveMeSport reporter Ben Jacobs recently shared an update on Cunha’s situation, revealing the price Wolves are asking for their striker.

He posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Matheus Cunha is yet to sign his new contract with Wolves despite a verbal agreement on new financial terms. The sides are still discussing a release clause and potentially two different numbers based on Wolves staying up and/or going down.

“Cunha has been offered a significant pay rise, and even with a new long-term deal, Wolves would be understanding of Cunha’s desire to leave for the right opportunity in future windows.

“Arsenal are currently in contact with Cunha’s camp but the talks are only informal at this stage. Wolves still don’t want to sell in January and that position will only change with a crazy bid, likely in excess of £80m.

“Wolves plan to sign Cunha for the second half of the season, but Arsenal remain open to the opportunity.”
