WASHINGTON, DC — The White House Office of Personnel Management notified agency and department heads that they must begin taking steps to close all Diversity, equity and inclusion offices at the end of the day Wednesday and are placing government workers in those offices on paid leave, Fox News Digital has learned.

Office of Personnel Management Acting Director Charles Ezell sent a memo to department and agency acting heads and heads on Tuesday evening telling them, no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 22 January to:
- Send an agency-wide notice to employees informing them of the closure and asking if they know of any efforts to disguise these programs through coded or imprecise language.
- Notify all DEIA office employees that they are being placed on paid administrative leave effective immediately when the agency takes action to close or terminate all DEIA initiatives, offices, and programs.
- Remove all external media (websites, social media accounts, etc.) from DEIA offices.
- Withdraw all final or pending documents, directives, orders, materials, and equity plans issued by the agency in response to Executive Order 14035, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) in the Federal Workforce (25 of June 2021), now repealed. .
- Cancel any DEIA-related training and cancel any DEIA-related contractors.
The memo also directed agency and department heads, by 12:00 p.m. Thursday, to share with OPM:
- a complete list of DEIA offices and employees located in those offices as of November 5, 2024.
- a complete list of all agency contracts related to DEIA as of November 5, 2024.
- any agency plans to fully comply with the above executive orders and this memorandum.
On Friday at 5:00 p.m., agency heads must submit to OPM:
- a written plan for the implementation of a reduction in force action with respect to employees working in a DEIA office.
- a list of all contract descriptions or staff position descriptions that were changed since November 5, 2024 to obscure their connection to DEIA programs.

The memo comes after President Trump signed an executive order to eliminate all DEI programs from the federal government.
The president also signed an order making it “the official policy of the US government to recognize only two genders: male and female.”
