What kind of lighting do you want? We like to see long-lasting LEDs (the trend in home security these days), and larger panels or more compact 1,000-LED lights to better illuminate the area. Some may prefer the direct light of a dark corner or balcony. We also like to focus more on lighting, lighting changes and colors, which is the main reason why the Lorex floodlight camera came to our top.
Security cameras with big, bright lights tend to be more expensive than regular cameras. The best models are over $200, but we look for cheaper options whenever possible. In the end, we don’t think it’s worth sacrificing quality for a low price: Having a bright panel go dark after a year of use is bad no matter how much you save.
The light is best suited for a high-end camera and a field of view of more than 130 degrees if possible. You’ll notice that most of our options offer 2K resolution, which is great for getting more detail when the camera is placed in a wide range of locations, which is common for cameras with flash.
Consider whether you want a battery-operated camera or a wired option. When it comes to digital or digital cameras, wired models are common. The battery option can be flexible, but bright lights can drain batteries quickly and light cameras are often placed in places where getting the battery back to charge can be difficult.
You don’t want your lights to turn on every time the page hits. Detecting objects that can ignore cars and animals and focus on people is very useful for cameras with lights. We’d love to see content recognition available for free, but it’s often locked behind a fee (along with cloud storage). Consider whether you want to pay the fixed price of your camera.
If the light catches something unexpected, it’s good to have a way to listen so you can talk or use your loudest voice. This is accompanied by an advanced software that is easy to understand and use, allowing you to access the microphone’s features when needed.
