EA’s Origin program for PC games will be closed in April

EA’s Origin PC customers have reached the end of the line. The gaming company has already announced its plans Origin’s program for computer gamers back in 2020 is starting the new EA program in 2022. However, Origin will be completely closed on April 17, 2025, when Microsoft ends support for 32-bit software. Anyone still using Origin will need to switch to EA software before that date.

For PC gamers who haven’t migrated to EA software, the company has describing the current system requirements. The EA software runs on a 64-bit architecture, and requires a system running Windows 10 or Windows 11. (Although Microsoft would so that everyone can upgrade to Windows 11 in the same way previous OS.)

If you’re only downloading the EA software on the latest version, players won’t need to download their games again. And if you have access to cloud storage, all your data should be transferred without any additional steps. However, it is always better to have a physical backup with this type of change, especially since not all games support cloud saving, and those titles will need to save game data manually. Mods are not automatically transferable, and EA encourages players to check with mod developers about transferring to EA software.
