Step up my training – BionicOldGuy

Lately I’ve been training about 2 hours a day, mostly cycling, but also strength training and PT for my back and hips. My body seems to tolerate it pretty well and I feel great.

Redwood retreat route. This is one of our locals’ favorite scenery

Some memorable rides include last Tuesday when my group and I rode to the end of Sequoia Retreat Road and back, Posted here On Strava. Then on Sunday, I did a tough workout that included upper body strength and conditioning, then a brisk ride along the Coyote Creek Trail to Bernal Road, turning onto the Montreal Highway on the way back. I also put in some hard intervals. It felt good at the time, but then I was tired, so I took it easy yesterday.

Yesterday at the top of scenic Sycamore Ave. and some friendly strangers I met on the left

I’m going to visit my brother in Phoenix in a few weeks and I want to rent a bike there and ride some of the canal trails. This will be an upright one. Since I usually ride recumbent and haven’t done that much mileage in an upright lately, my hips aren’t as tough as they need to be, so I’ll be riding some more miles in an upright in preparation, just Rides like I did last Tuesday, Friday and yesterday.
