President-elect Trump is discussing the possibility visiting China again as president with aides, according to a report.
The new president, who takes office on Monday, visited Beijing during his first term in 2017 and spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping Friday by phone.
Trump has been threatening China with fees but he has told advisers he wants to tighten ties with the communist country with the visit, possibly even traveling there during his first 100 days in office, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
“I just spoke with President Xi Jinping of China. The call was very good for both China and the US,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday. “My expectation is that we will solve many problems together, and we will start immediately. We talked about the balance of trade, fentanyl, TikTok and many other issues. President Xi and I will do our best to make the world more peaceful and secure !”
